William P. Nolan

William P. Nolan, age 85, of Greencastle, PA passed away early Friday morning April 12, 2019 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born October 15, 1933 in Washington DC, he was the son of the late John and Edna (Luth) Nolan. He married his wife Edna M. (Miller) Nolan on February 19, 1953.

Bill had worked as a police officer for 11 years in Washington DC and then retired after 33 years as a Captain with United Airlines.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Chapel of Smithsburg, MD. Bill was a member of the Airlines Pilot Organization and a member of the Quiet Birds (QB) Pilots. He was a graduate of Central High School in Washington DC and attended Catholic University. Bill loved the Lord Jesus, his wife Edna, family and loved his country.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of 66 years are two daughters, Sharon Nolan of Martinsburg, WV, Helen Nolan Carlson and husband Bradley of Greencastle; two sons, Patrick Nolan and wife Connie of Fountain Inn SC, Lewis Nolan of Maryland; 12 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 17 at 2:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA with Pastor Jonathan Laye officiating. Please join the family for visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. A private family graveside service to follow.  Contributions may be given in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
