William T. "Bill" Coble

William Terry “Bill” Coble, age 79, of Greencastle, PA, passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital on Friday, December 30, 2022. Born in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late William W. and Lillie M. Lowans Coble.

A 1962 graduate of James Buchanan High School, Bill went on to work as a machinist at the former Frick Company for 23 years, retiring in 1986. Not one to be idle, Bill started a new career working as a Montgomery Township Supervisor for 24 years, retiring again in 2010. He was a member of Macedonia United Brethren Church, where he served as a Trustee, Van/Bus driver for various functions, participated in Child Evangelism Fellowship for 30 years, and Operation Christmas Child for 20 years. He enjoyed farming, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, playing softball, and restoring his antique car and antique tractor.  

Surviving is his beloved wife of 60 years, Beverly J. Shindle Coble, whom he married on October 21, 1962; four daughters, Lori Lin Wood (husband Michael) of Greencastle, PA, Amy Lou Frisby (husband Gary) of Greencastle, PA, Sue Ann Landers (husband Jerry) of Hancock, MD, and Wendy L. Hopkins of Chambersburg, PA; nine grandchildren, Amanda Lynch, Danelle Kaiser, Amber Clark, Ryan Wood, Brittney Eckstine, Trenton Springs, Logan Springs, Corbin Hopkins, and Jadyn Hopkins; 11 great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Audrey Weaver of Hagerstown, MD and Robin Coble (wife Debbie) of Mercersburg, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 11 AM at Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Rd., Greencastle, PA 17225, where Pastors Gayle Ruble and David Grove will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5 from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the above church and address. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
