Shannon J. Leyh

Shannon J. Leyh, age 35, of Greencastle, PA and formerly of Winchester, VA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Born July 18, 1985, in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of Jacqueline and Edward C. Gaines and the late William R. Leyh.

A 2003 graduate of Walkersville High School, Shannon went on to work as a server and caregiver for children with special needs. A social butterfly, Shannon enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hiking, being in the outdoors, and helping others.

In addition to her mother and step-father, she is survived by a brother, Brandon G. Leyh of Greencastle, PA, a sister, Ashleigh Hill (husband Ricky) of Inwood, WV, paternal grandmother, Mary Leyh, maternal grandmother, Carol Clevenger, two nephews, Gabriel William Gerhold-Leyh and Rick M. Hill III, and her aunts and uncle. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by both of her grandfathers and her grandmother, Gwen.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 11 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc. 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Robert Cook  will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.
