Sandra Lee (Heckman) Davis

Mrs. Sandra Lee (Heckman) Davis, 76, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at her residence in Shippensburg at Restore Health. 

Born April 12, 1944, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Richard McKnight Heckman and Betty Jane Myers Heckman. She graduated from James Buchanan High School in 1962.

She previously worked for Dr. William Dovey in Mercersburg, Citizens National Bank of Greencastle, Broadfording Christian Academy, the Urological Center in Hagerstown, and Greencastle Family Practice.  Sandra also enjoyed connecting with people through numerous other part-time positions.

Sandra was an active member of Broadfording Church in Hagerstown where she served with the Bus Ministry, Sunday School, Ladies’ Ministry, and VBS. She dearly loved and supported her family.  She faithfully attended nearly every activity, sporting event, and pageant in which they were involved. 

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Norman E. Davis, her daughter, Denise M. Burkett (husband Richard); brother, Richard H. Heckman (wife Donna) and sister Barbara A. (Heckman) Hawbaker (husband Jim) all of Greencastle, and brother Mike L. Heckman (wife Debbie) of Hagerstown. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved granddaughter, Ashley Burkett Glensor (husband Jacob) of Lancaster, PA, as well as several nephews and nieces.  She loved her many pets, specifically her dog, Muff and her cat, Pepper. Her gentle, encouraging spirit and joyful laughter will be missed by all.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 13th, at Broadfording Church, 13523 Broadfording Church Road, Hagerstown, MD with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM with Pastors R. William Wyand and William H. Freed Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or to Broadfording Christian Academy, 13535 Broadfording Church Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
