Mary Jane (Fox) Smith age 94, passed away on July 25, 2021, at Shook Home. Born in Quincy Township, Franklin County, PA on October 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Vertie (Hess) Fox.
In her earlier life she worked at the Knitting Mall in Waynesboro, with her husband in Smith’s General Store, Clay Hill, and was also employed at Nibble with Gibble’s. Mary Jane’s life was centered on her faith in Christ and her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker and delighted in preparing holiday meals. Until her health failed, she was a very active member of Ebenezer United Brethren Church near Greencastle and taught Sunday School there and at the Union Sunday School in Clay Hill for many years.
Surviving are her children, Larry (Holly) Smith, of Clay Hill, PA; Owen Smith, of Orlando, FL; and Linda Paar, of Chambersburg, PA; two granddaughters, Courtney (Jarrett) Whitlow and Ruth Myers and three grandsons, Matthew; Benjamin; and Kyle (Leigh) Smith; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, I. Gerald Smith on October 27, 1997, brother, Guy Fox; sisters, Esther Stockslager, Edna Miller, Beulah Kell; and son-in-law, Anthony Paar.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 30, 2021, at 11 AM at Ebenezer United Brethren Church, 3661 Williamson Road, Greencastle, with Rev. Guy Stockslager officiating. The church will be open for visitation one hour before the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home Inc., Greencastle, PA.
