Howard Kozain Obituary

Howard A. Kozain, 91, of Greencastle, PA passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 in his home.  Born July 24, 1932 in Boquet, PA he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Benson) Kozain.

 Howard served with the United States Army during Korea until his honorable discharge.  He was employed as a salvage machinist for Mack Truck, Hagerstown, MD.  He retired in 1987 after 25 years with the company.  He was an active member of Rehoboth Assembly of God where he served on the board and as deacon.  Howard was a talented musician who played the piano, guitar and trombone by ear.  He enjoyed antiquing, fishing, collecting old cars, gardening, and going to flea markets and auctions.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Sophia (Holodnik) Kozain; two sons, Alan Kozain of Greencastle, PA and Bryan Kozain and his wife Cathy of Quincy, PA; five grandchildren, Brianne Duell and her husband Derek, Dori Kozain, Jason, Alycia, and Andrea Fries; two great-grandchildren, Aleah and Blakely; and a number of nieces and nephews.  He was the last of his siblings.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Janice Fries who passed away in 2021.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 22, 2024 in Twin Valley Memorial Park, 483 Athena Drive, Delmont, PA 15626 where military honors will be conducted. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
