Harmon Hawbaker

E. Harmon Hawbaker, age 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born February 10, 1940, in Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late David Martin and Catharine Myers Hawbaker.

Mr. Hawbaker was a dairy farmer most of his life. He was a member of Ebenezer United Brethren Church, the Williamson Ruritan Club, and the Franklin County Farm Bureau. Harmon enjoyed going to tractor pulls, collecting tractor memorabilia, and attending social functions.

Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce Meyers Hawbaker, whom he married September 29, 1962; three children, Michael Allen Hawbaker (Michele) of Shade Gap, PA, Melanie Sue Lee (husband Robert) of Belgrade, MT, and Wanda Jean Works (husband Douglas) of Mechanicsburg, PA; daughter-in-law, Karen Yoder (husband Daryl) of Chambersburg, PA; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Rodger Hawbaker (Beverly), Dwight Hawbaker (Shirley), Louise Wenger (Raymond), and Wayne Hawbaker (Miriam); and a brother-in-law, Sam Horst (Lucille). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Kay Hawbaker, a son, Rodney Ray Hawbaker, and sisters, Mary Elizabeth Mellinger and Elaine Horst.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 11 AM at Ebenezer United Brethren Church, 3661 Williamson Rd., Greencastle, PA 17225, where Pastor David Grove will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 5 – 9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church and address above. Interment will follow the service in Meyers Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the above church and address. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
