Fred Eugene Benchoff, age 83, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. Born October 29, 1938, in Greencastle, PA he was the son of the late Harry and Viola Crist Benchoff.
Fred worked at Teledyne Landis Machine for over 40 years, retiring in 2001. An avid outdoorsman, Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed his animal, BINGO, and watching Westerns on television.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 62 years, Frances “Fran” Bear Benchoff, whom he married on March 5, 1960; two daughters, Kelly D. Alleman (Jay) of Greencastle, PA and Kathy D. Woodal (Matt) of Greencastle, PA; three grandchildren, Stephanie Cortes (Luis), Makaylyn Leister (fiancé Andrew Paterno), and Keylee Woodal; great-granddaughter, Haley Bowman; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Benchoff; brother-in-law, Ken Swisher; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family that cared for him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Benchoff in infancy, grandson, Steaphen Alleman, and numerous siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 11 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Andrew Paterno will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mad in his name to Franklin Hospice, 209 Grant St., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to Rescue Hose Co. 1, 842 S. Washington St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
