Eugene "Gene" L. Esquer

Eugene L. “Gene” Esquer, age 67, of Greencastle, PA died at 6:00 AM Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born August 5, 1950 in Flagstaff, Arizona, he was the son of the late Frannie and Bertha (Zamora) Esquer. He married Patricia A. (Kline) Esquer on December 28, 1974.

Gene had worked in maintenance at the former Lynfield Event Complex in Frederick, MD. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a long time PIAA basketball official with the South Penn Chapter in Chambersburg and was also a member of the Washington County Maryland Basketball Officials Association. He enjoyed golfing, basketball and going to car shows.

Surviving family in addition to his wife  are a sister-in-law, Opal Esquer of Prosper, TX, two nieces and one nephew and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Fred Esquer.

 Funeral services will be held on Monday July 23 at 10:00 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with William E. Shilling officiating. Burial will be in the Antietam Cemetery near Waynesboro, PA. There will be no public viewing but the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening 6:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741.
