Donna "Kay" (Hoover) Button

Donna “Kay” (Hoover) Button 80, of Hagerstown, MD passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 18, 2022.  Born November 9, 1941, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles K. and Phyllis Holbert Hoover.

 Mrs. Button graduated from Greencastle High School in 1959. 

In her early years, Kay worked for Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, MD, where she met her soul mate, Edward Button.  They were married in March of 1963 and soon left Mack Truck to become a full- time mother.  Later in her life she worked as an aerobics instructor and took pride in being a homemaker. Her passions included her five children and three grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and Friday night dinners at the VFW with treasured friends.

She is survived by her beloved children, Kimberly and (Stephen) Kinn of Medina, OH; Susan Button of Waverly, OH; Rebecca (Keith) Wright of Hagerstown, MD; and Preston Edward Button of Baltimore, MD; three cherished grandchildren, Kaylee Kinn, Rylee, and Aubrey Bapst; and one brother, C. Gregory and (Ronda) Hoover of Greencastle, PA.  She is also survived by one uncle, Larry and (Patricia) Holbert of Greencastle, PA and numerous nieces, nephews, and one great niece, Everleigh Kendall and one great nephew, Kanyon Hoover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her precious son, Timothy Edward and soul mate, Edward Neil Button as well as one aunt and two uncles.   She will forever be remembered for her resilient strength, loving heart and big, beautiful smile.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, at 10 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 24 from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the VFW, Greencastle Police Department and Rescue Hose Company for their compassion and dignity during this tragic event.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Fisher House Bethesda, 24 Stokes Rd., Bethesda, MD 20814.
