Dolores J. (Mellott) Daugherty

Dolores J. (Mellott) Daugherty, age 79 of Welsh Run Rd. Greencastle, PA died Tuesday evening January 5, 2021 in her home.

Born December 17, 1941 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late J. Roy and Leah (Thrush)Mellott. She married her husband C. Glenn Daugherty on March 4, 1967.

She and her husband operated a dairy farm on Welsh Run Rd. for many years and she also worked at the former Stanley Co. Chambersburg in her younger years. Delores was a 1959 graduate of James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg.

She had been a member of the local Farm Women’s Group and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. She had attended the former St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ in Upton, PA.

Surviving family in addition to her husband of 53 years are one son Michael G. Daugherty and Paula Andrews of Greencastle and children Blake Witter, Contessa Crider, Levi Crider and Brylee Andrews and a nephew whom she helped raise Shane Snively of Chambersburg. She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Snively.

A funeral service will be held on Monday January 11 at 12 Noon at the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church 6727 Montgomery Church Rd. Mercersburg with Pastor Raymond Martin officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Monday from 10:00 – 12:00 noon. The family asks that masks may be optional.
