David E. Stahl

David E. Stahl, age 82,  of Chambersburg, PA,  went to Heaven to be with his Lord,  on Friday evening March 19, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born April 18, 1938 in Mercersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Jacob Howard and Ruth (Gehr) Stahl. He married his wife Phyllis M. (Wingert) Stahl on October 11, 1959.

David was a lifelong truck driver having driven for Gabler Trucking Inc., Charles W. Karper Inc. and CWP Inc. all of Chambersburg. David was a faithful member of the Shanks Church of the Brethren near Greencastle, where he served as a lay minister for 39 years.

He enjoyed restoring old lawn and garden tractors and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving family in addition to his wife are one son, Brad (Sonya) Stahl of Chambersburg; one daughter, Melody (Roy) Baum of Greencastle; one sister Mary Stahl of Greencastle; four grandchildren, Eric, Evan, Lyle, Austin and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Blake Stahl in 2009, four brothers, Glenn H. Stahl, Clarence Ellis Stahl, Robert L. Stahl and Donald E. Stahl.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 25 at 10:30 AM at the Shanks Church of the Brethren, Shanks Church Rd. Greencastle with Ministers Nelson Witmer, Brenton Stahl, Steve Strite and John Shelly officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the Shanks Church of the Brethren on Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
