Catherine (Fries) Buterbaugh

Catherine Buterbaugh, 80 of Mercersburg, PA, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 4, 2021 at Sterling Care Nursing Home in Boonsboro, MD.  Born June 30, 1941 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Comerer Fries.  Mrs. Buterbaugh was a 1959 graduate of the James Buchanan High School and was employed for more than 40 years at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg.  She was also employed as Banquet Manager at B.P.O Elks Lodge #378 in Hagerstown for the past 43 years.  She attended Trinity United Church of Christ in Ft. Loudon where she volunteered  with the annual peach festival.  Mrs. Buterbaugh enjoyed yard work and loved visiting with her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Corinna D. Rotz and husband Sam of Ft. Loudon; two grandchildren, Joey Rotz and wife Arin and Cayla Richards and husband Mike; five great-grandchildren, Jase and Korbyn Rotz, Reanna, Rhyder, and Pacey Richards; and her brother, Jim Fries of Mercersburg.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Nevin Fries and a sister, Martha Fries.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, PA.  Rev. Marleen Shepherd will officiate.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA.  The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
