Catharine M. (Byers) Sollenberger

Catharine M. (Byers) Sollenberger, age 101, of  Gabler Rd. Chambersburg, PA died Friday, December 18, 2020  in her home.

Born August 3, 1919 in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Katie (Meyers) Byers. She married her husband Glen S. Sollenberger on November 4, 1943. He died on April 14, 2014.

Catharine was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife, helping her husband in operating their dairy farm.  She was a member of the Upton Brethren Church.

Surviving family are one daughter Joyce Paylor and husband Alan of Chambersburg, two sons, Dennis Sollenberger and wife Doris of Mercersburg, Dean Sollenberger and wife Beckie of St. Thomas, ten grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren.

 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson Jerry Sollenberger; one great-granddaughter Annie Shaffer;  two brothers Daniel Byers, Charles Byers; five sisters, Sue Byers, Anna Myers, Louise Musser, Alice Dice and Nora Pugh.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 31 at 10:30 AM from the Upton Brethren Church 8490 Warm Spring Road Upton, PA with Ministers Garnet Myers, Duane Hawbaker, Joel Sollenberger and Anthony Lehman officiating. Burial will be in the Meyers Cemetery near Welsh Run, PA. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be given to the SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17202. Catharine's family would like to give special thanks to the staff of SpiriTrust Hospice for the excellent care that was provided to their mother. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M.
