Carol Ann (Rachuba) Van Horn

On Thursday, May 27, 2022 Carol Ann Rachuba-Van Horn, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 76. Carol was born in Baltimore, Maryland and later relocated with her family to Greencastle, Pennsylvania. Carol was married to her husband Kenly C. Van Horn for 43 years before his passing in 2011. Together they raised their children Amy E. Van Horn-Newell and Christopher S. Van Horn, married to Nancy Van Horn. Carol’s greatest joy was her granddaughter, Emma Katherine Newell.

In her early life, Carol attended Seton High School and worked as a dental assistant. Later, Carol co- owned a gift shop, The Little Red Sled in Greencastle. Carol enjoyed gardening, bird watching, homemaking, cooking, shopping and caring for her family. Carolwas known by her many friends and family for her kindness, charm, and devout faith. Fun and beautiful, Carol was full of life.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 3, 2022 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 395 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, PA 17225. Fr. Walter Guzman will officiate. Interment will follow the Mass in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church at the above address.
