Betty L. (Bingaman) Cordell

Betty L. Cordell, age 78, of State Line, PA, passed away at Meritus Medical Center on Monday, October 11, 2021. Born November 25, 1942, Antrim Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wade and Violet Christophel Bingaman.

Mrs. Cordell worked at the former Corning Glass as a Material Scheduler for 35 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Macedonia United Brethren Church, where she served as the organist, serving on the Board as Secretary for 21 years, WMF Treasurer, Choir Director, and Willing Works Class. She enjoyed traveling, reading, her family and especially cherished time with her great-grandchildren. She assisted others in taking them to Doctor appointments, and delivering Meals on Wheels. 

Surviving is her husband of 60 years, Robert H. Cordell, whom she married on May 28, 1961; a son, Ricky Cordell (wife Deana) of Greencastle, PA; two grandchildren, Nicholas Cordell (wife Rachelle) of Chatham, IL and Danny Goodyear (wife Daphene) of Gettsysburg PA; two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Zoe Cordell of Chatham, IL; and two siblings, sister, Shari Myers (husband Tom) of Boonsboro, MD and brother, Gary Bingaman (wife Karen) of Greencastle, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021, at 1 PM at Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Rd., Greencastle, PA 17225, where Pastors Brian Black and Gayle Ruble will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the service at the above church. Interment will follow the service in the adjacent church cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the above church’s Trustee Fund at the address above or to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
