Barry Lee Austin

Barry Lee Austin age 72, of Greencastle, PA, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Born in Mercersburg, PA, born November 27, 1948, he was the son of the late George Calvin and Ethel May Cordell Austin.

Mr. Austin was a 1967 graduate of James Buchanan High School. He went on to service honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves. Mr. Austin worked for a number of years for the former Grove Manufacturing, where he retired twice. He was a member of the American Legion in Greencastle. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes, shooting pool, and hunting and fishing.

Surviving are six children, Brian Austin (wife Angie) of Chesapeake, VA, Michael Austin (wife Jessica) of Chesapeake, VA, Christopher Austin (wife Kendra) of Elizabeth City, NC, Wendy Smith of Greencastle, PA, Thomas Nye Smith (wife Pamela) of Elizabeth town, PA, and Shawn Smith of Chambersburg PA; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a brother, Edward Austin of Ft. Loudon, PA.

A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 6-8 PM at the American Legion Post 373, 99-1 Railroad St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
