Alice S. Harbaugh

Alice S. (Horst)  Harbaugh, age 95, of   Chambersburg, PA died  Sunday afternoon, June 6, 2021, in the Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Chambersburg.

Born January 19, 1926, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. And Fannie K. (Shank) Horst. She married her husband Kenneth Roger “Buddy” Harbaugh on April 6, 1973. He died on November 27, 2009.
 
Alice was a homemaker and had worked as a seamstress at several local garment companies.  She was a member of the Greencastle Church of The Brethren and the Golden Oldies Sunday School Class. She had volunteered at the Cumberland Valley Relief Center in Chambersburg. Alice enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading and doing people’s alterations.

Surviving family are  three sons Carl L. and wife Rebecca Witmer, Mercersburg, Roger L. and wife Janet Witmer, Chambersburg, James A. and wife Donna Witmer, Chambersburg; two daughters, Linda J. and husband Denny Shatzer, Chambersburg, Wilma A. Sprenkle, Chambersburg; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Lester R. Witmer, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 10 AM at the Greencastle Church of the Brethren 36 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Fred Keener and Rev. Leon Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Greencastle Church of the Brethren 36 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, Pa. 17225. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
