Thelma M. Cline

Thelma M. Cline, 101, of State Line, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Born November 24, 1923 in Antrim Township, she was a daughter of the late Roy H., and Lula L. Stains Bowders. Her beloved husband, Omer C. Cline, preceded her in death on July 9, 1999.

Thelma was a 1943 graduate of Greencastle Antrim High School. Money was tight in her family so she had to go to work her junior and senior years. She lived and worked for the Brubaker family, taking care of their children and doing household chores in order to still graduate from high school. She was employed at the Stanley Company in Chambersburg for 11 years and later at Corning Glass Works in Greencastle for 25 years until her retirement. Thelma was a member of Grace Bible Church in Greencastle where she helped in the preschool department and in the church nursery. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Thelma adored babies and children and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Myrna L. Funk of Chambersburg; two grandsons, Harry E. “Trey” Funk III and wife Morgan of Chambersburg, and Benjamin J. Funk and wife Madison of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Jacklyn, Ember, Bennett, Lynnlea, Hudson, and Flynn Funk; and her son-in-law, Irvin Varner of Blue Ridge Summit. Aside from her husband and parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane M. Varner; son-in-law, Harry E. Funk, Jr.; and four sisters, Ethel Vaughn, Doris Bowders, Anna Belle Salisbury, and Frances Zeger.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road, Greencastle, PA 17225. Pastor Nathan Hykes and Pastor Herm Fisler will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Beautiful View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Pm on Monday evening, April 28, 2025 at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
