Seldon L. Traver, 90, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Thursday June 4, 2026, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Born July 27, 1935, in Noxen, PA, he was the son of the late Voyle and Clara Traver. His beloved wife, Beverly Cook Traver, whom he married on October 15, 1955, preceded him in death on January 19, 2026.
Seldon was employed as a bridge foreman with H.J. Williams of York, PA and later Susquehanna Valey Construction in New Cumberland, PA, until his retirement. He was a member of the Greencastle VFW Post 6319, Waynesboro Moose Lodge 1191, Greencastle Sportsman’s Association, the NRA, and the Potomac Fish and Game Club. Seldon attended Grace Bible Church in Greencastle. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by three children, Francis Traver (wife Diana) of Greencastle, PA, Rick Traver (wife Teresa) of Greencastle, PA, and Dawn Johns (husband Terry) of Emmittsburg, MD; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Aside from his wife and parents, Seldon was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeannette Wright and Dorothy Patton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225. Pastor Herm Fisler will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, at American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association, at American Diabetes Association Condolences and memories may be shared at zimmermanfh.com.
