Ronald E. Starliper, age 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation Center. Born August 14, 1938, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Eugene W. and Virginia Black Starliper.
Mr. Starliper was a 1957 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School. He worked as a machinist at Landis Machine company for 45 years, retiring in 2003. Mr. Starliper enjoyed coaching little league, watching baseball and football, hunting, fishing, going to the casino, gardening and time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Yankees fan, Jets fan, and closet Steelers fan and in his earlier years he played adult league softball. He was a member of the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association.
Surviving are three children, Rodney E. Starliper (Mary) of Chambersburg, PA, Kimberly S. Sheeder (Terry) of McConnellsburg, PA, and Shiela D. Pingor (Bobby) of Pittsburgh, PA; six grandchildren, Lizabeth, Robert, Drew, Ronnie, Steven, and Ryan; five great-grandchildren, Rosalynn, Hannah, Sadie, Asher, and Ethan; and a brother, Harold “Howdy” Starliper (Evelyn) of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther L. Wolford in 2021; a son, Doug in 1980; and a brother, Richard.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4-7 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225. Private interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the charity of one’s choice.
