Robert E. “Bob” Miller age 82, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Chambers Pointe nursing home. Born November 22, 1940, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Melchor D. “Meck” and Edith M. (Berger) Miller.
Bob was a 1958 graduate of the Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966. Bob was the owner and operator of the former Miller’s Jewelry Store from 1967 – 1979. After Bob sold the store he went to work at Letterkenny Army Depot, where he retired after 23 years of total government service in 1998. He was a member of Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, where he was a part of the Berean Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 373 and the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association. Bob enjoyed gardening, spending time with his dog, Buddy, Saturday morning breakfasts at Family Diner, and any type of outdoor work.
Bob is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ellen Louise Rotz Miller, whom he married February 14, 1995; three children, Donald Miller (Alisa), Richard Miller (Robin), and Karen Gibble (DeRay); four step-children, Kathie Small (Troy), Tim McCulloh (Deb), Patti Nowell (Roger), and Mark Michalsky (Sheri); seven grandchildren, Andrew (Emily), Alan, Ashley, and Aaron(Danielle) Miller, DeRauk (Haleigh) and Tanner Gibble and Natasha Picard (Jake); seven step-grandchildren, Rebecca McCulloh (Curt Grice), Kaitlin Stouffer (Colby), Heather, Holly, Christopher, and Caleb (Danae) Nowell, and Bryce (Dana) and Rachel Michalsky; multiple great grandchildren; and 12 siblings, Connie Keller (Harold), Jeannie Blubaugh (Norm), Larry Miller (Barb), Ronald Miller (Linda), Kim Miller (Bonnie), Betty Ann Miller, Pam Wingert (Dwayne), Doug Miller, Bonnie Overend, Mark Miller (Angie), Jeff Miller (Connie), and Lori Ensminger (Mike). In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy; a brother in infancy, Brian Miller; a brother, Richard “Dick” Miller; and a sister, Deb Layton.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11 AM at Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, 24 Kauffman Rd., E., Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor Casey Hurst will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service at the above church on Friday. Interment will follow the service in Brown’s Mill Cemetery, Kauffman, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
