Mary Helen Gingerich

Mary Helen Gingerich, age 98, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in Orrstown, PA at her daughter’s home. Born January 16, 1928, in Welsh Run, PA, she was the daughter of the late Merle and Ruth Amanda Cline Spangler.

Mrs. Gingerich was a 1946 graduate of the Greencastle-Antrim High School. She was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed weeding, gardening, her grandchildren, reading and word search puzzles.

Surviving are six children, Judy Bucher (husband David) of MN, Richard Gingerich (wife Lois) of Greencastle, PA, Darlene Fisher (husband Jay) of Orrstown, PA, Betty Lou Walter (husband Durand) of Greencastle, PA, Elizabeth Spidel of Greencastle, PA, and Jeffrey Gingerich (wife Phyllis) of Harrisonville, PA; 19 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren; and a niece, Betty Peterson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Gingerich on November 26, 2014, whom she married on August 28, 1946, and a sister, Dorothy Rice.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM a t Shanks Church Cemetery, 983 Shanks Church Rd., Greencastle, PA 17225, where Pastor John Shelly will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
