Maryellen Britner

Maryellen Britner, age 81, of Greencastle, PA, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Born in Milo, Maine on March 12, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Beatrice Babkirk.

Ms. Britner was a 1963 graduate of Brownville Junction High School. She did secretarial and clerical work at the Bureau of Naval Personnel until she left to raise her family. More recently she worked as a salesclerk at the former Shoemaker’s Sporting Goods and at various pharmacies. She enjoyed knitting, reading, watching the Pirates and Steelers, and going to the beach.

Surviving are three sons, James “Jay” Britner II (wife Stacy) of Waynesboro, PA, Brian Britner (wife Stacy) of Greencastle, PA, and Darrin Britner (wife Melissa) of Greencastle, PA; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc. 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Mark Reno will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
