Linda Kay Mowen, 71, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 18, 1954, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late J. Paul and Mabel Sweigert Doyle.
Linda was a 1972 graduate of James Buchanon High School. She began her career in the banking industry after her graduation at Citizen’s Bank in Greencastle, PA. She was later employed at Hagerstown Trust, Chambersburg Trust, Orrstown Bank and retired from Bulldog Federal Credit Union. Linda was a member of Otterbein United Brethren In Christ Church where she volunteered her time sewing, making crafts and helping with the sunshine basket ministry. She enjoyed baking and spending time with her husband and family.
In addition to her mother, Linda is survived by her husband of 50 years, Emory “Dwain” Mowen, whom she married on May 11, 1975; her sister, Sue Grove (husband Vaughn) of Greencastle; two nieces, Danielle Hulock (husband Derrick) of Lancaster, PA, and Amber Grove (fiancé Dan Lehman) of Greencastle; two great nephews, Camden and Jaxsen Hulock; one great niece, Evyn Hulock; two sisters-in-law, Marsha Snider (husband Nelson) of Chambersburg, and Kathie Mowen of Chambersburg; and one brother-in-law, Shawn Mowen (wife Laurie) of Chambersburg. Linda was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews on her husband’s side of the family. Aside from her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Olen Mowen.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Otterbein United Brethren In Christ Church, 146 Leitersburg Street Greencastle, PA 17225. Pastor David Rawley will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M.
