Kenneth L. Mongan, Jr

Kenneth L. “Ken” Mongan, Jr. age 62, of Alexandria, VA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, while at camp. Born March 21, 1964, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of Kenneth L. Mongan, Sr. and the late Carolyn Kauffman Mongan.

Ken was a 1982 graduate of Smithsburg High School. He worked as a retail manager for a number of years, before retiring. Ken enjoyed and excelled at telling terrible jokes; he also enjoyed hiking, visiting National and State Parks, photography, and the most unusual roadside attractions.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bobbi A. Sheeley Mongan, whom he married on May 11, 1986; his son, Kyle L. Mongan of Alexandria, VA; three siblings, Karen Metz (husband Michael) of Greencastle, PA, Kirk Mongan (wife Sue) of Hagerstown, MD, and Kerri Mapes (husband Scott) of Waynesboro, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 2 – 5 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225. Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
