Joyce E. Miller age 86, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Transitions Healthcare in Chambersburg. Born in Waynesboro, PA on June 19, 1940, she was the daughter of the late George L. and K. Ruth Martin Miller
Mrs. Miller was a 1958 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School and a 1959 graduate of the former Chambersburg Practical Nursing School. She worked as an LPN at the Chambersburg Hospital from 1959-1963 and then in the bakery department at the former Sunnyway Foods for 10 years. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in State Line, where she served on numerous committees and as a Deacon on the Consistory for years and AARP. Mrs. Miller enjoyed monthly lunches with her high school classmates, reading mystery books, family vacations to Chincoteague, and a bowl of ice cream.
Surviving are three children, G. Andrew “Andy” Miller (wife JoAnn), Denise Miller, and Nicole Kipe (husband Jeff) all of Waynesboro, PA; three grandchildren, Sara Boyd, Dylan Potts, and Joshua Swope (wife Courtney); two great-grandchildren, Emma and Evan Drake; a brother, Samuel H. Miller (wife Dawn) of Mercersburg, PA; and a cousin, William “Bill” Zeigler (wife Jill) of TX. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George A. Miller in 2013, whom she married on July 5, 1963, and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 10 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Tim Bremmer will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter at www.cvas-pets.org or to St. Jude Children’s research Hospital at www.st.jude.org.
