Joan Hager Barnhart

Joan H. Barnhart, age 89, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born in Kauffman Station, PA on February 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Hager and Hazel Hager Zeger.

Mrs. Barnhart was a 1954 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. She worked in the home most of her adult life. Mrs. Barnhart was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles; she also enjoyed cooking for the church and bird watching. Mrs. Barnhart was a lifetime member of Marion First United Methodist Church.

Surviving is her son, Michael L. Barnhart (Tina Marie Butts) of Chambersburg, PA; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Barnhart of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Zach Barnhart, Matt Barnhart, and Katie Barnhart; two step grandchildren Coty Rickel and wife, Jenna and Samantha Carbaugh and step great granddaughter Alexis Carbaugh ; five great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald Barnhart in 2018 and a son, Steven N. Barnhart in 2010.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 1 PM in Marion First United Methodist Church, 94 Colorado Street, Marion, PA 17235. Pastor Brent Stouffer will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Browns Mill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Marion First United Methodist Church at the above address. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M.
