Jean (Harne) Barnes

E. Jean (Harne) Barnes of Greencastle, PA, peacefully passed away on Sept. 24, 2020.

She is survived by her children Kathy (Doug) Cordell, Kevin (Virginia) Barnes, and Kerrie (Bob) Petrunak; grandchildren  Amanda (James) Okeefe, Shawn (fiance Samantha) Cordell, Kim (Carl) Lewis and Taylor Petrunak;  6 great-grandchildren; sister Ellen Avey and her daughter Andrea (Matt) Brown.

Jean was born on May 27, 1938 to the late Edna (Baughman) Harne and Earl K. Harne in Waynesboro, PA.  Her entire life was lived in the Greencastle area, graduating from Greencastle High School in 1956.  After graduating from Shippensburg University, she taught English for 27 years and was also a yearbook advisor for many years at Greencastle-Antrim High School retiring in 2001.

Jean had many varied interests including reading John Grisham novels, knitting, cooking, Rod Stewart and Toby Keith's music, and visits to Williamsburg, VA.  She was quite happy when able to yell 'bingo' at fundraisers and in turn put a smile on others' faces with her wit and humor.
