James “Jimmy K” “Uncle Mim” Kinback, age 57, of Greencastle, PA, passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Born February 12, 1965, in Altoona, PA, he was the son of Regis J. and Joan Guzic Kinback.
Jim was a 1983 graduate of Penn Cambria High School. He earned his Bachelor Degree from St. Francis University in 1987 and his Master’s Degree in 2002 from Frostburg University. Jim was an accountant; he worked for AMCOR for 18 years, then TE Connectivity for 2 years and lastly for Olympic Steel. He was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he served as a member of the finance committee. Jim was an avid sports fan and devoted Uncle. He enjoyed watching local sports which included Blue Devil basketball, football and GABSA Little League, where he would keep the score books for the Little League teams. When able he followed his nieces travel softball team. Jim loved all things Pittsburgh. Whether it be a Penguin game, Steeler game or Pirate game, you could count on him watching it. Jim also enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and listening to Billy Joel and Polka Music. He loved his trips to the beach with family, his trips to Seven Springs for the annual Polka Festival, a good trip to the casino and anything that would take him to his love...the city of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his parents, Jim is survived by his siblings, Robert F. “Bob” Kinback (wife Denise) of Greencastle, PA and Jennifer R. Farabaugh (husband Paul) of Cresson, PA; three Godsons to include: Hunter Szaflarski and nephews, Brandon Farabaugh and Dylan Kinback; and nieces, Hailey and Emily Farabaugh; and nephews, Ryan Farabaugh and Derek Kinback. Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Regis Kinback, Jr. in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 11 AM at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 385 Ridge Ave., Greencastle, PA 17225, where Rev. Fr. Matthew Smith will celebrate. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 9 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to GABSA, P.O. Box 125, Greencastle, PA 17225 or to Make-A- Wish Foundation, 2951 Whiteford Rd Ste 304, York, PA 17402.
