Ina Grace Barnes, age 95, of Chambersburg and formerly Sebring, FL, passed away on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, at Providence Place Senior Living of Chambersburg, PA. Born February 16th, 1931, in Antrim Township, she was the daughter of the late George and Bertha (Shockey) Peiffer. Grace married her husband, Robert L. Barnes, on November 18th, 1951, in Hagerstown, MD.
Grace was a member of St. Luke’s Luthern Church of Williamson and attended Sebring Church of the Brethren in Sebring, FL. She was a member of The Sebring Recreation Club. She enjoyed traveling and spent winters in Florida.
Grace was a homemaker. She spent her time on a 117-acre farm, planting tomatoes they sold to the H.J. Heinz Company, in Chambersburg, PA, feeding the animals, and taking care of her children. Grace and her husband moved to Williamson in 1965, after selling their farm, where she continued to volunteer her time to the church and community. Grace was famous for her homemade bread, apple pies, and stuffing balls.
She is survived by 3 sons; Robert L. Barnes, Jr. (companion Holly Davis) of Chambersburg, PA, Donald R. Barnes of Greencastle, PA, Larry E. Barnes of Chambersburg, PA; a daughter, Carol E. Woodring (husband Ralph) of Greencastle, PA; and former daughter in-law, Carolyn Barnes of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Barnes and 12 siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29th, 2026, at 11 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA 17225 with Chaplain Tim Brown officiating. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service on Friday from 9AM-11AM at the funeral home above. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Residential Hospice, 100 Sterling Pkwy #110, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
