Hazel C. (Beaver) Valentine

Hazel C. (Beaver) Valentine, age 92 of Chambersburg, PA died Sunday morning July 9, 2017 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Waynesboro, PA.

Born August 26, 1924 in Shady Grove, PA, she was the daughter of the late P. Guy and Sarah (Lohman) Beaver. She married her husband Harry Denton Valentine on October 16, 1942. He died on January 19, 2004.

Hazel worked at the former Stanley Co. in Chambersburg. She was a member of the Greencastle Church of the Brethren. Hazel was a 1942 graduate of Greencastle High School.  She enjoyed reading, being with and taking care of her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving family are two daughters, Linda Divelbiss of Chambersburg, Jane Schur and husband Paul of Waynesboro, one brother Donald Beaver and wife Jane of Greencastle, one sister Mary Barton of Philadelphia, PA, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother Richard Beaver.

Funeral services will be held on Friday July 14 at 11:00 AM at the Greencastle Church of the Brethren 36 South Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Leon Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Antietam Cemetery in Waynesboro. There will be a viewing at the church one hour before the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Greencastle Church of the Brethren 36 South Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA 17225.
