George E. Dopp, Jr., age 102, of Greencastle, PA, passed away at Quincy Village on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Born September 23, 1923, he was the son of the late George E. Dopp, Sr. and Claire Edna Skiles Dopp.
Mr. Dopp was a graduate of Wilmore High School. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Dopp worked as a tool cutter and grinder for Westinghouse, Baltimore, MD, Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown, PA, and lastly for Mack Truck, Hagerstown, MD for 27 years, where he retired in 1988. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Greencastle, UAW #171, life member of the VFW Post 6319, Greencastle; American Legion, Wormleysburg, PA, National AARP, and Second Millers Sunday School. Years ago, he was a baseball coach for the Braves in Pony League.
He is survived by three children, Linda Kingsley (husband Gregory) of Greencastle, PA; David Dopp (wife Wanda) of Greencastle, PA; and Wayne Dopp (wife Lisa) of Dillsburg, PA; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M. Dopp in 2025, a daughter, Bonnie Poper, and three sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on 11 AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Ken Aker will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday in the funeral home above. Interment will follow the service in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
