Frances Greenawalt Elliott, age 100, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Mercy House of Chambersburg. Born April 11, 1926, in Shady Grove, PA, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose R. and Mary Blanche Myers Greenawalt. She married Owen E. Elliott on December29, 1945. Owen passed away on July 20, 2015.
Frances was a graduate of Greencastle High School, class of 1944, and Waynesboro Business College. She was employed as an Administrative Aide at Corning Glass Works, Greencastle, retiring in 1987. Frances was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle, where she had been active in many activities, including pianist for various events, choir, and serving on the Worship and Music, Evangelism, and Financial Committees. She served as pianist in church worship services at Luther Ridge for many years, and pianist accompanist for Rescue Hose Minstrel Show. Frances volunteered for the American Red Cross, Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce, and the Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Greencastle-Antrim Lioness Club and Greencastle-Antrim Loyal Daughters. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, playing cards, and dining out.
Surviving are two sons, Tony Elliott and wife Leesa of Shady Grove, PA and Tim Elliott and wife, Ginger of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Jennifer Elliott, Lindsay Salmon (husband Justin), Tim Elliott, and Molly Twardy (husband Steve); two great grandchildren, Matthew and Mason Salmon; and a sister, Lois Rockwell of Bradenton, FL.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11 AM at the Evangelical Lutheran Church Greencastle, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, PA 17225; where Rev. Dr. Clifton Suehr will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the above church. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the above church and address or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Mercy House of Chambersburg.
