Dorothy L. Clare

Dorothy L. Clare, age 86, of Greencastle, PA passed away at her home on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Born in Waynesboro, PA on May 20, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Denton and Mabel I. Creager Bingaman.

Mrs. Clare was a 1956 graduate of the Waynesboro Area Senior High School. She went on to own and operate her own beauty shop until her retirement in 1983. Mrs. Clare was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in State Line, PA. She enjoyed camping, playing cards, travel, especially to Florida in the winter with her late husband, Robert Clare. She also loved to go shopping and going to her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Surviving are 7 children, Lori Wolfe (Tad) of Port Lavaca, TX, Bobbi Mongan (Ken) of Alexandria, VA, Melinda Cordell, (Jim) of Greencastle, PA, Brian K. Clare of Greencastle, PA, Keith Sheeley (Angela) of Greencastle, PA, Eric E. Clare (Tammy) of Greencastle, PA, and LeVaun Droneburg (Rob) of Mont Alto, PA; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother in law, Carroll Wilhide of Waynesboro, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Trinity UCC, 29 East Ave., State Line, PA 17263. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 at the church above. Interment will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at the Greencastle Brethren Church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
