Donna Grace Thomas, 84, of Menno Haven’s Chambers Pointe, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, died peacefully at the Chambersburg Hospital on Friday evening January 23, 2026. She was the only child of Jack Thomas and Stella Kulischak, and was born in North Charleroi, Washington County, Pennsylvania, on June 4, 1941. Her paternal grandparents were Jack Thomas Sr. and Mary Kerner, and her maternal grandparents were Frank Kulischak and Anna Burnick. Donna attended public schools in Charleroi and graduated from the Charleroi Area High School in 1960. She moved to Greencastle, Pennsylvania, in August of 1960 when her father, who worked for the Corning Glass Works was transferred from Charleroi to Greencastle. She attended Hagerstown Junior College in 1960 and 1961. She was preceded in death by her father in 1988 and her mother in 2010.
She was hired as a part-time librarian at the Lillian S. Besore Memorial Library, a branch of the Franklin County Library System, in 1964 where she worked for 42 years as a full-time librarian until she retired in February 2009. She and her mother moved from Greencastle to Menno Haven Village in 2009.
Donna was a member of the Allison-Antrim Museum, the AARP, the Grace United Church of Christ in Greencastle for over 25 years and the Menno Haven Christian Fellowship for 16 years.
Donna was a volunteer at the Waynesboro Hospital Eye Surgery Center, under Dr. Thomas Creyer and enjoyed her permanent basement layout of Lionel O-27 Trains and a large collection of Christmas music boxes. She liked to travel and take day trips.
She was the last of her immediate family and is survived by several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Donna would like to thank Menno Haven for their professional and excellent care.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Menno Haven Chambers Pointe Chapel, 1425 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201 on Saturday, March 21, 2026. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Menno Haven Benevolent Find, 2011 Scotland Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201. A private burial will be held at the Greencastle Cedar Hill Cemetery.
