Donald R. Cordell, 98, of Greencastle, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital. He was born on October 21, 1927, in Waynesboro, PA to the late Roy W. and Elsie F. (Clever) Cordell.
In his younger years, Donald was a dairy farmer and later in life, owned and operated Scottee Coin Wash in Chambersburg, PA. He was a 1945 graduate of Quincy High School, a member of First Church Greencastle, and served honorably in the United States Army. He played baseball in high school and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. In his free time, he enjoyed puzzles, traveling, playing horseshoes and ping pong, and sharing a meal, especially dessert, with his friends and family.
He is survived by his daughter Sandra Domer (Denny) of Chambersburg, PA; son Brian Cordell (Andrea) of Greencastle, PA; 8 grandchildren Michelle Norris (Perry) of Greencastle, PA; Michael Wingert (Rachel) of Greencastle, PA; Stacy Domer (Zoltan) of Maui, HI; Aaron Cordell (Hannah) of Philadelphia, PA; Alec Cordell (Noel) Greencastle, PA; Tessa Cordell (Peter) Sellersville, PA; Desserrae McCullough (Cory) of Lutz, FL; Traci Cornwell (Chris) of Myrtle Beach, SC; 8 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Anna Bowers of Hagerstown, MD. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Hilda L. Cordell who passed in 2006, son Larry Cordell, brothers Clifford, Herbert, Ross, and Kenneth Cordell, and sisters Anna Freet, Hulda Russell, and Fay Hoke.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle Street, Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Wyatt Taylor will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Wednesday, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM the funeral home above. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle, PA.
