David W. Wood

David W. Wood, age 75, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Born December 18, 1950, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Earl G. and Joanne D. Stevens Wood.

Davey was a 1968 graduate of James Buchanan High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1970 to 1977 during the Vietnam Conflict. Following his military service, he worked as a truck driver for CCE and Grove Worldwide for 21 years.

David was a man of strong faith and was a member of Cornerstone Church and Christian Sale Covenant Church, both in San Antonio, TX. He was also a life member of the NRA, NWTF, AMAC, NAHC, Kagies Knob Hunting Club, VFW Post 6319, and American Legion Post 373.

David was a good-natured man with a kind heart and a generous spirit. He was the type of person who was always willing to lend a hand, whether to family, friends, neighbors, or even someone he had just met. Helping people came naturally to him, and he never hesitated to do what he could for others. He will be remembered for his hard work, his willingness to help, his sense of humor, and the genuine kindness he showed to the people around him.

David enjoyed many things throughout his life, including model planes and cars, hunting, fishing, and working with his hands. He especially enjoyed spending time outdoors and being part of his hunting club. More than anything, he took pride in being there for the people he cared about and helping whenever he was needed.

David is survived by his son, Matthew D. Wood (wife Annette) of Hagerstown, MD; two grandchildren, Alex and Adele Wood; three siblings, Earl Wood Jr. of Shippensburg, PA, Diane Poper of Greencastle, PA, and Debbie Whit of Greencastle, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His kindness, good nature, and willingness to help others will remain a lasting part of the lives he touched.

Services and interment will be private.
