Charles L. Powell, age 89 of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026. Born December 12, 1936, in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Alvey H. and Ruth E. (Daley) Powell.
He worked for different local employers and worked for Foremost Industries of Greencastle for 45 years. Charles was a member of the Greencastle Church of The Brethren, where he was a member for 74 years. He was a lifelong resident of Antrim Township. Charles enjoyed trains, tractors, working, and mowing grass.
He is survived by one nephew, Gary Kennedy (wife Ruth); a niece by marriage Celia Kennedy wife of the late Larry Kennedy of Waynesboro, PA; numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; a sister, Patricia Irene Powell Kennedy who passed away in 1990, one niece, Ruth Ann Poole and two nephews, Larry and Alvey Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11 AM at the Greencastle Church of the Brethren, 36 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Fred Keener will officiate. There will be no public viewing, but the family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in the Shanks Church of The Brethren Cemetery Greencastle. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be given to the Greencastle Church of The Brethren 36 South Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA 17225.
