Carol A. (Martin) Mummert, age 56, of Kuhn Rd. Greencastle died unexpectedly at 10:20 AM Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born January 6, 1959 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late J. Earl and Ruth M. (Landis) Martin. She married David W. Mummert on April 11, 1981 in Greencastle.

Carol was currently working at Walmart of Hagerstown and had also worked for 23 years for Franklin County Head Start and had also worked at the Greencastle Learning Center.
She was a 1976 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School and attended Hagerstown Community College.
Carol was a member of the Greencastle Church of the Brethren where she assisted with the God’s Angels Children’s program, Vacation Bible School and served on the Christian Education Committee. Her hobbies and interests included crocheting, cross stitch, reading and camping.

Surviving family in addition to her husband are one daughter Amanda R. Penwell and husband Travis of Shippensburg, one son Adam D. Mummert of Greencastle, two grandchildren Serinity A. Penwell and Karrson L. Pennwell, two sisters, Joanne M. Dunning, and Linda K. Peiffer, both of Greencastle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers Larry, Wayne and Dale Martin.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29 at 10:00 AM from the Greencastle Church of the Brethren 36 South Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Leon Yoder officiating Burial will be in the Macedonia United Brethren Church Cemetery near Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the American Heart Association Capital Region 1019 Mumma Rd. Wormleysburg, PA 17043 or to the American Cancer Society East Central Division 924-N Colonial Avenue York, PA 17403. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.zimmermanfh.com.
