Viola M. Plum

Viola M. (Daley) Plum, age 105, a resident of Menno Haven in Chambersburg and formerly of Greencastle, died Monday October 22, 2018 at Menno Haven.

Born September 29, 1913 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Edna Belle (Dentler) Daley. She married her husband J. Ira Plum on October 17, 1931. He died on June 14, 1997.

In her younger years, she worked at the former Windsor Hosiery of Greencastle and the Interwoven Co. in Chambersburg. Later in her life, she worked for Byers Ice Cream, Greencastle Cold Storage and retired in 1973 from Baer Bros. of Hagerstown.

Viola was a member of the Greencastle Church of the Brethren since she was 14 years old. She attended the Greencastle Senior Center where she enjoyed playing cards. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, collecting glass baskets and her flower gardens.

Surviving family are one daughter Shirley M. Robinson; seven grandchildren Judy Craig, Aleesa Banzhoff, Diane Haupt, Randy Izer, Rodney Izer, Scott Eaton, Holly Guyotte;  numerous great- grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren and one sister, Lorraine B. Helfrick of Waynesboro.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son Ira Eugene “Gene” Plum, one grandson Michael John Plum and three sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Monday October 29 at 11:00 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Leon Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Shanks Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Greencastle Church of the Brethren 36 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA 17225.
