Pastor David William Ross

Pastor David William Ross, age 86, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at his home, with his beloved wife by his side. Born April 25, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John David and Ida Frede Ross.

Pastor Ross was a graduate of Olney High School, the Museum School of Art, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, and Temple University with a Master’s in Education. He graduated from Pittsburgh Seminary in 1960 as an ordained minister. Pastor Ross retired in 2002 after 42 years of service to many congregations; he was a resident Pastor for 25 years and an interim Pastor Serving 15 congregations for 1-2 years. Pastor Ross was a U.S. Navy veteran, where he had served in the reserves from 1954 – 1958 as an aerial photographer. He was a member of Valley Artists of Hagerstown. Notably Pastor Ross called the first organizing meeting of Habitat for Humanity, 25 years ago in Hagerstown. He enjoyed attending summer art festivals and making people laugh.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Joan M. “Joy” Reinhardt, whom he married May 24, 1958, four children, Deborah L. Preston (husband Jon) of Olympia, WA, John David Ross (wife Sandra) of Sunrise, FL, Susannah Ross of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Steven Ross of Clackamas, OR and two grandchildren, Erin and Archer Preston.

The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225 from 12:30 until 2:30 PM for viewing on Sunday, September 9, 2018. A memorial service and interment will be held on a later date.
