Mary Jo Steiner Sprankle

Mary Jo Steiner Sprankle, age 81, of Greencastle, PA passed away at her home on Saturday evening February 17, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 31, 1936 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Allwein) Cincel. She married her husband Leo I. Sprankle on February 13, 1998.

Mary Jo had worked as a medical secretary for a local dentist and she also had been employed as the director of the Antietam Humane Society in Waynesboro and as the director of activities at Homewood at Williamsport.

She was a member of the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church of Greencastle. She had served as secretary for the Allison-Antrim Museum Board.

Surviving family are one son Joe Steiner and wife Pamela of Fayetteville, PA, two daughters, Andrea Cordell and husband Brian of Greencastle, Laurie Gamble and husband Bentley of Concord, PA, six grandchildren, Aaron, Alec, Tess, Brady, Bethany, Brittney, three step-daughters, Jody Bittner, Julie Gembe, Jill Target and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Joseph M. Steiner in 1992 and by one sister Cathy Cincel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday February 22 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church 395 South Ridge Ave. Greencastle with Father Kyle Sahd officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro, PA. There will be no public viewing but there will be a visitation for family and friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Antietam Humane Society 57 Lyons Rd.
