Lillian E. (Tosten) Kennedy

Lillian Ellen (Tosten) Kennedy, age 98, a resident of the Shook Home in Chambersburg and formerly of Waynesboro, PA was called home on Sunday evening December 30, 2018 at The Shook Home.

Born July 23, 1920 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Sarah Ann (Diller) Tosten. She married her her husband Orville E. Kennedy on September 15, 1943. He died on March 3, 1986.

She retired in 1985 from Corning Glass Works in Greencastle and during World War II she worked at Fairchild Aircraft of Hagerstown.

Lillian attended the Otterbein United Brethren Church of Waynesboro. Her hobbies and interests included blue grass gospel music, painting, gardening and being a homemaker.

Surviving family are four sons Rev. Layman L. (Cindy) Kennedy of Mechanicsburg, PA, Rodger T.(Ellen) Kennedy of Waynesboro, Dale O. (Karen) Kennedy of Chambersburg, Dennis A. Kennedy of Waynesboro; two daughters, Elaine J. (Amos) Miller of Waynesboro and Darlene E. Kennedy of Waynesboro; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren.  .

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by:  a son Alvin E. Kennedy in 2016; sisters, Florence Tosten, Nancy Breneman, Madelyn Smith, Julia H. Barnes, Wilma Tosten, and a brother Omar Tosten. She was the last of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with her son Rev. Layman L. Kennedy  officiating. Burial will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery, Kauffman, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and one hour before the service on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17202.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com
