Jean Austin (Wharton) Edwards, age 76 of Greencastle, PA died early Saturday morning February 3, 2018 in her home.

Born January 8, 1942 in Middleburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late William Austin And  Florence Vernell (Shupe) Wharton. She married her husband George L. “Les” Edwards on December 30, 1999.

Jean was a homemaker and mother, and had worked as a manager for a McDonalds Restaurant in Virginia and for a Burger King Restaurant in Hagerstown. She enjoyed playing board games and was an animal lover especially her cats.

Surviving family in addition to her husband are one daughter Tammie J. Bennett of Oakland, MD, three sons Larry Thibodeau of Centerville, VA, Lewis Brown of Delaplane, VA , Bruce Thibodeau of Luray, VA, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one brother James Wharton of  Idaho and one step- daughter, Holly Edwards of Greencastle, PA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son William Thibodeau.

A memorial service  for Jean will be held on Saturday, March 24  at 10:30 AM  at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
