James E. Sherrill, Jr.

James E. “Jim” Sherrill, Jr. age 75, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born October 11, 1945, in Chambersburg, PA; he was the son of the late James E. and Evelyn Marie Spiker Sherrill.

Jim attended Marion and Chambersburg Schools. He went on to work at Corning Glass, and in the Body Shops of Hicks Chevrolet, Dice Body Shop, Mac Interstate Truck, where he retired in 2010. He continued to maintain his love of cars and autobody through Sherrill Body Shop much throughout his later years.  He was a member of Hollowell BIC, where he was involved with the Boys Brigade Club, taught Sunday School and was a trustee board member. He showed active love within the church especially focusing on children services and bible school. Jim was also a member of the Paramount Baptist Church, where he participated in the Hospitality Committee and Bible School. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching NASCAR. When not fishing or hunting, he showed great pride in maintaining the family swimming pool for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Susan L. Hykes Sherrill, whom he married on October 16, 1965; three children, Annette D. Trillanes (husband Ben) of Hagerstown, MD, Karen L. Conrad (husband John) of Waynesboro, PA, and Brian E. Sherrill (Brandy Kauffman) of Waynesboro, PA; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Paul Sherrill (wife Debbie), Virgil (Tom) Sherrill (wife Elaine), Larry Sherrill (wife Vic), Linda Smith (husband Denny), Connie Mowen (husband Mike), and Donnie Sherrill (Misty Brannon).

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021, at 10:30 AM at Paramount Baptist Church, 13234 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21742, where Pastor Josh Fields will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will follow in Brown’s Mill Cemetery, Kauffman Station, PA on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 2 PM. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
