Frances E. Peiffer

Frances E. (Swisher) Peiffer, age 89, a resident of Menno Haven in Chambersburg and formerly of  Worleytown Rd. Greencastle, PA died Thursday morning August 23, 2018 in Menno Haven. Born March 13, 1929 in Antrim Township, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late W. Howard Taft Swisher and Elizabeth (Finfrock) Swisher. She married her husband Robert L. Peiffer on September 13, 1947. He died on September 15, 2011.

Frances had worked at the former Stanley Co. of Chambersburg, Sunnyway Foods of Greencastle, the former Barkdoll’s Market of Greencastle and along with her husband operated Peiffer’s Grocery in Worleytown for five years.

Frances was a member of the Macedonia United Brethren Church near Greencastle and previously attended and  taught Sunday School at the Greencastle Church of the Brethren. She was 1947 graduate of Greencastle High School.

Surviving family are three sons Steven L. Peiffer and wife Linda of Greencastle, Dean E. Peiffer and wife Beverly of Mercersburg and Curtis L. Peiffer and wife Karen of Mercersburg; two sisters, Dorothy S. Kay and Norma Jean Ingream, both of Greencastle; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother C. Robert Swisher in 2016.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday August 27 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cedar Hill Cemetery Buchanan Trail West Greencastle with Rev. Gayle Ruble Sr. officiating. There will be no public viewing. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17202 or to the Macedonia United Brethren Church 11887 Worleytown Rd.
