Esther M. (Wolfkill) Smith

Esther M. (Wolfkill) Smith, age 93 formerly of Greencastle, PA and Shady Grove, PA, died on Friday December 11, 2020 at ManorCare Health Services in Chambersburg.

Born December 28, 1926 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edgar S. and Mary M. (Hawbaker) Wolfkill.

Esther was an Avon Sales Consultant for 23 years. In her younger years she worked in sales at the former Leiters Dept. Store, McCroys Store and Bercaws, all of Waynesboro.

She was a member of the Greencastle Church of the Brethren and a member of the Weight Watchers of Franklin County. Esther was a 1945 graduate of Greencastle High School and enjoyed collecting cookbooks, square dancing and was a McDonalds regular.

Surviving family are a daughter Lisa M. Timmons and husband Richard of Greencastle; one sister, Linda K. Alter of Waynesboro, PA; three   grandchildren, Matthew (Chelsey) Timmons, Michelle (Kevin) Peck, Marc (Jessica) Timmons; two great-grandchildren , Cole and Evelyn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William J. Smith in 2019, a son, Ronnie J. “S.F. Pinstick” Smith in 1971, a brother Ed Wolfkill and an infant sister Virginia Lee Wolfkill.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 15 at 2:00 PM at the Browns Mill Cemetery Kauffman, PA with Pastor Leon Yoder officiating.   A private viewing will be held at the convenience of the family at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home in Greencastle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org.
