Esther A. Miley

Esther A. Miley, age 87, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Gettysburg Hospital. Born July 28, 1931, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Emma Baker Simmers.

A 1950 graduate of the former Washington Township High School, Mrs. Miley went on to work for 25 years as a seamstress at the former J. Schoenaman Company in Chambersburg, PA; where she retired in 1993. She was a member of the Rescue Hose Company No. 3 Auxiliary. Mrs. Miley enjoyed time with family and friends and often enjoyed a friendly game of Bingo.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara K. Alleman (husband Dean) of Greencastle, PA and Sharon D. Williamson (husband Dennis) of Conowingo, MD; four grandchildren, Michelle Bowers of Smithsburg, MD, Shaun Gibney of Smithsburg, MD, Brandy Barrett of Conowingo, MD, and Shane Barrett of Greencastle, PA; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul R. Miley in 2004 and seven siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at 10 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 South Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor David Rawley will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 1, 2018, from 6 – 8 PM and on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
