Allen Jimick Obituary

Allen Stephen Jimick, age 81, of Greencastle, PA, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness on February 1, 2021, at Magnolias of Chambersburg. Born in Detroit, MI on March 27, 1939, he was the son of the late Stephen Jimick and Katherine Schmidt Jimick Bender.

Mr. Jimick, a graduate of Port Hope High School in Port Hope, MI, went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1957 – 1961. Mr. Jimick started his career in 1961 at Mack Truck, where he retired 32 years later as a shift engineer.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, UAW Retirees Local 171, AARP, , and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6319. A friend of Bill W. for many years, Al was involved in many local meetings as a leader and mentor to those in the program. In his spare time, Mr. Jimick enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping and gardening. As someone raised to not be wasteful, there were few items safe from his need to tinker and try to fix things.

Surviving are three daughters, Kathy J. Myers of Chambersburg, PA, Karen S. Hetrick (husband John) of Greencastle, PA, and Sally Jo Harmon (husband Daniel) of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Zachary Myers (wife Bianca) of KY, Adam Harmon of Chambersburg, PA, Shelby Harmon of Chambersburg, PA, and Caitlyn Hetrick of New York City, NY; a great-granddaughter, Lily Myers; and siblings, Elsie Curtaindale, Margaret Barton, Kathy Roche, Donna Turcsak, and Albert, John, Elmer, and Larry Bender, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Deloris J. Jimick, on January18, 2021, whom he married on June 29, 1961.
